Morning Attitude and the Power of Prayer!

Welcome back, and hope you enjoy this reading:)

So it all started last night. I had a long day of working on projects in my home, and thought I’d head to bed early (it seemed like a smart thing to do right?) Of course when I say early I mean 11:30😀

I woke up the next morning at 6AM for my family scripture reading, and I could hardly get out of bed. I felt more tired than when I went to bed. I stomped out of my room, loudly closing the door behind me. I opened the cabinet, got out my probiotic, and shut it loudly. I heard my mom behind me asking kindly if I could stop slamming things. As I sat down for our family prayer and scripture, I knew today was going to be a long day. I felt frustration growing in me and I was not ready to face the day.

We finished our reading, and I proceeded to give my mom my usual morning hug. As she hugged me back, she thanked me for helping out with the project the day before. As she said that I felt the frustration inside of me begin to melt away. I proceeded to my room for my prayer and studies. As I began my prayer I remembered something one of the missionaries that served in my church said to me awhile ago. It went something along the lines of  ‘It's never too late to have a good day’. I had this in my mind and also my moms voice saying “It’s never too late to start the day”. With their voices ringing in my head, I knew I needed to change my attitude, and so I began my prayer.

My prayer was nothing more than me asking God to help me have a better day, and to help me have the will power to change my attitude. To be honest this made all the difference. It’s amazing how our attitudes and prayers can make all the difference in our morning, and just throughout our lives.

I don’t believe there's such a thing as waking up on the wrong side of the bed, I believe it’s all in the attitude we choose to have- negative or positive. WE CAN CHOOSE. If you want to have a good morning leading to a good day, choose to change your attitude, by choosing to start your day with prayer.

When we choose God to be the first person we turn/talk to in the morning, we will have a better day. You don’t have to say a 15-20 minute prayer for this. If you are a busy person like me and don’t  always have the time you want, make the time that you have count. Just take 5-10 minutes out of your morning to turn to God and you will never regret it. He always magnifies our efforts no matter how big or small. He knows and understands. He will help you have a better day and help you have a better attitude!

Now I’m sure this sounds easier said than done right? I know because I’ve been there before. Sometimes it seems easier to just let the day go,  and choose to keep that bad or negative attitude- or even blame it on someone or something that affected us the day before or that morning (I’ve felt the same way) but… what does that really do for us in the end? NOTHING. Ok, maybe it gives us the chance to make an excuse for why we don’t feel like trying to have a better attitude.

Believe me, it would have been easier to be moody this morning and have a negative attitude about my day, but like it said, it does nothing.

Praying first thing in the morning and choosing to have a positive attitude about my day was not just an overnight thing, but a routine I’ve done for the last 10+ years. It’s something you have to want to succeed at. I’ve continued to practice this over the years and it has been a game changer for me, and I KNOW it will help you too!:)
