LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE

🌸Matthew 5:14-16

“14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”.

As children of God, this scripture clearly teaches us that we are not meant to be hidden in darkness, under a bushel, forgotten or left alone. 

It teaches us that we are children of light, we are children of love, we are children of the Son, we are children of God!

God is telling us we are “The light of the world”. Not a light, not some random light but “THE LIGHT of the world- His light of His world. We are a  grand city of light that sits on the hill where all can see us.

Darkness cannot exist, where light is shining, darkness cannot exist where we are shining- even if our light is as small as the spark of a wondrous thought- it is still light.

We were born to shine. We were created to be a beacon in the midst of the world where light is dimming.

We were destined to glow, reflect further than our mind can comprehend. Our heavenly father didn’t give us His light so we can hide it under a “bushel”,  nor did He give us His light to outshine others- but to help them discover how beautiful they are.

Our greatest purpose as beacons of light: is to glorify our father in heaven. It is to let Him shine through us. It is to be witnesses of Jesus Christ at all times, and in all things, and in all places. It is to be so when people look at us, they see the light of Jesus Christ shining through our countenance.

If we don’t become that light on a hill,

If we don’t become that light of the world,

If we don’t let our light shine before others, we are just hiding under a bushel-

We are denying ourselves and others of the power and light of Jesus Christ to shine in our lives.
